Affordable Care Act (ACA) Ambassador Program

EverThrive Illinois is looking for energetic individuals with a passion for improving access to health care to serve as Affordable Care Act (ACA) Ambassadors. ACA Ambassadors will serve as an extension of EverThrive IL as we work to help communities understand health reform and the impact on families, individuals, and businesses.

Why educate communities on the ACA?
While more than half a million Illinois residents have enrolled in health care coverage over the past year through the Marketplace or Medicaid as a result of the Affordable Care Act, approximately 600,000 Illinoisans remain uninsured and eligible for insurance coverage. One of the largest barriers preventing the uninsured from signing up for health coverage is a lack of familiarity with new health insurance opportunities.

Who should apply to become an ACA Ambassador?
EverThrive IL is looking for individuals with strong connections to West Suburban Cook County or the Chicago area who are passionate about health care. You do not need to be an expert or even feel comfortable talking about health reform—we will teach you everything you need to know!

All applicants should have some public speaking experience; flexible schedules, including evening and weekends; and be able to travel short distances for training and presentations. It is not required that an applicant is bilingual, but is highly desired.

Ambassadors will receive a stipend of $600 if they successfully meet the established goals.

What is expected of an Ambassador?
Ambassadors will be expected to plan and facilitate a minimum of seven presentations on the ACA over a 12 month period, which starts October 1, 2014. Ambassadors will devote approximately 10 hours per month to this work.
Ambassadors must attend and participate in EverThrive IL’s four training sessions, which will provide all the information you need on the law, as well as scheduling, facilitating, and evaluating presentations. These mandatory training sessions will be hosted from 6:00-9:00pm on October 2nd,9th,16th, and 22nd  at the EverThrive IL office (1256 W. Chicago Avenue, Chicago).

How do I apply?
Anyone interested in becoming an Ambassador must complete our online application, available at www.ilmaternal.org/acaambassadors, and submit a resume and cover letter to asiani@everthriveil.org.

The deadline to apply is September 14th
. Questions or comments can be directed to Alicia Siani, at asiani@everthriveil.org
