The Healthy Youths Program and the Community Outreach Intervention Projects at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a full-time Research Specialist for a federally-funded study to prevent HIV/AIDS among juvenile offenders. The study is a randomized controlled trial to evaluate an innovative and uniquely tailored HIV/AIDS, mental health, and substance use program designed for 13-17 year old males and females on probation.

The study is a randomized controlled trial to evaluate an innovative and uniquely tailored HIV/AIDS, mental health, and substance use program designed for 13-17 year old males and females on probation.
Recruitment and retention responsibilities:
- Recruit, track, and assess participating youth for enrollment and follow-up in the research study
- Make contact with youths’ legal guardians to explain the study, retrieve consent, and maintain an ongoing relationship with the family
- Conduct baseline and follow-up assessments with youth participating in the study
- Maintain communication with youth using various communication media (telephone, email, and texts) to schedule appointments, send reminders, and verify contact information throughout the study.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Bachelors degree required, advanced degree in a relevant area such as public health, psychology, or social work preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional professionalism
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to worth autonomously and complete job responsibilities independently
- Experience in the collection, verification and management of data for a longitudinal study
- Experience working with youth preferred
