CORDINATOR OF SCHOOL BASED PREVENTION PROGRAMS

     Network for Dissemination of Curriculum Infusion (NDCI)



Position:  Northeastern Illinois University’s (NEIU’s) Network for Dissemination of Curriculum Infusion (NDCI) invites applications for the position of Part Time Coordinator (60% time).

NEIU, located on the North side of Chicago is one of 12 public universities in Illinois.  Serving more than 12,000 students, the university is consistently ranked by US News and World Report as one of the most ethnically diverse in the Midwest.  NEIU is the only four year public university in Illinois designated a Hispanic Serving Institution.





About the NDCI:

NEIU’s Network for Dissemination of Curriculum has received ongoing grant funding for the past 19 years to prepare k-12 through higher education faculty to integrate study and prevention of substance abuse and other pressing life issues into classes across the curriculum.  Through its current funding the NDCI prepares in-service and future teachers to integrate substance abuse and related life issues into k-12 classes across subject areas.  Social-emotional and service learning are incorporated into the life issues curriculum.



Position Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the NDCI Director, the Coordinator is responsible for organizing and delivering substance abuse and related life issues curriculum infusion trainings of k-12 teachers and administrators.   The Coordinator will also train Illinois College of Education faculty to prepare future teachers to integrate real life issues, prevention and social-emotional and service learning into k-12 classes.  Additional responsibilities include follow up consultation after trainings, updating project websites and participation in evaluation and regular meetings with the Director and the other Part Time NDCI Coordinator.



Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must possess a Masters degree and three years experience in a position related to treatment or prevention of substance abuse and/or other real life issues.  The candidate must also have successful experience delivering training workshops.



Salary:

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and is guaranteed through June 30th, 2013.  The position may continue beyond that date depending on funding.
