Accreditation and Regulatory Specialist
The University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System, a 450-bed academic facility, seeks an experienced healthcare professional to join our quality team with the objective of improving patient outcomes through achievement of accreditation standards and national patient safety goals of The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory organizations. The individual should be energetic and results oriented with the ability to influence and inspire change.

Duties:
Serves as a resource for interpretation of Joint Commission standards, CMS conditions of participation, and relevant state requirements. Leads/assists in annual gap analysis "Focused Standards Assessment" of compliance with Joint Commission standards/CMS Conditions of Participation, and tracks status via various tools such as Joint Commission FSA and others as needed. Utilizing quality improvement techniques and tools, leads/assists in the development and implementation of detailed action plans to achieve compliance, on a system-wide basis. Advises managers on how to develop and implement audits to measure effectiveness of new processes or action plans, including design of audit tools, sampling methods, and collation and display of data for analysis. Develops/assists in education efforts to assure health sciences physicians and employees understand and support accreditation needs and impact on patient care delivery. Manages/assists with the UI Health process for policy and clinical care guideline development, approval, dissemination, intranet posting, and archiving as legal records. This includes facilitation/support to the Hospital Policy and Procedure Committee.

Requirements:
  1.  BSN or Bachelor's in Public Health, Business Administration, Business, Health, or Operations Management, Environmental or Natural Science, or other discipline related to the Healthcare field. 
  2. Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience with the standards and survey process of an organization that includes accreditation. **Applicants possessing a MSN or Master's in Public Health, Business Administration, Business, Health, or Operations Management, Environmental or Natural Science, or other discipline related to the Healthcare field meet the requirements of #1 above. 
  3. Additional preferred qualifications include a master's degree, CSHA or CPHQ certification, and proficiency with computer applications including use of database software to maintain compliance efforts.
