Evanston Health Department - Emergency Preparedness Internship


Duties:
  • Maintain a database of public health volunteers in the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) in addition to planning for MRC trainings and activities.
  • Participate in community fairs and health fairs to distribute disaster preparedness information and recruit potential MRC volunteers.
  • Prepare After Action Reports from drills and exercises.
  • Draft or update emergency response plans as necessary, which may include pandemic influenza plans and Strategic National Stockpile plans.
  • Maintain inventory of emergency preparedness resources; research new supply purchases as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned or as they arise.

Experience and Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate or Master’s student in Public Health, Public Administration, Environmental Health, Healthcare Administration or similar field.
  • Must possess excellent written, verbal, and public speaking ability.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.

Additional Information:
  • The Emergency Preparedness internship is located at 2100 Ridge Ave, Evanston, IL 60201.
  • Transportation to and from work are the responsibility of the intern.  A driver’s license and access to a car is needed for this job posting.
  • The intern must adhere to agency rules and procedures (i.e. dress code, professionalism, etc.)
  • Internship length: May 2014-August 2014, exact start and end dates flexible
  • Hours per week: 20-25
  • Pay: $10/hour
