Temporary Management Intern Position

General Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking a management intern for the summer of 2013 (start and end dates flexible). Working directly with the Executive Administrator, the management intern will have exposure to all aspects of healthcare management .The management intern will perform special projects as assigned in various areas such as Finance, Operations, and Human Resources/Academic Affairs. The intern will have the opportunity to work closely with a variety of individuals across the Department and institution, and will be expected to make themself aware of the policies and practices of the institution, develop planning, organizational and time management skills, and monitor progress towards goals will the help of Executive Administrator or designee.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Pursuing professional training in health care management or related field preferred. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software (Microsoft Word, Access and Excel) required; excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Must be a quick learner. Must have outstanding attention to detail, maintain appropriate confidentiality, and work effectively under pressure.
