West Nile virus Practicum/Internship opportunity


Background
The City of Evanston Health Department strives to provide a safe environment for Evanston Residents and visitors. During the summer months the City works collaboratively with the North Shore Mosquito Abatement District to provide education about West Nile Virus and perform surveillance activity.

Responsibilities of the Internship:
·         Collect and Analyze mosquitoes for West Nile Virus
·         Perform property inspections for conditions encouraging the growth of mosquitoes
·         Log information into an Illinois Department of Public Health Supported Database
·         Prepare report of all West Nile Virus activity for 2015
·         Perform other duties as requested

Internship Requirements:
·         Excellent database and MS Office Skills, including data entry and management
·         Laboratory science coursework
·         Excellent work ethic
·         Strong interpersonal skills
·         Reliable car (must provide own transportation to collection sites)
·         Minimum education level: Undergraduate Student
