The American Society of Anesthesiologists (CME) job opening in Chicago

The American Society of Anesthesiologists is currently seeking a Continuing Medical Education (CME) Specialist for our Park Ridge, IL location. Due to growth, we are relocating to Park Ridge, IL in May 2014.

The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) was founded in 1905 as an educational, research and scientific association organized to raise and maintain the standards of anesthesiology and improve patient care. Today we have over 50,000 members dedicated to our mission of improving patient care and patient safety.

Position Summary:
This position maintains ACCME requirements for ASA’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs.

Position Responsibilities:
This position is not static and will be revised as the need of the organization’s business evolves.
  1. Major Activity: Implement ACCME accreditation policies and procedures; manage the accreditation documentation system and calendar of events; interface with ASA departments to provide guidance on maintaining accreditation compliance and meeting reporting deadlines.
  2. Major Activity: Interface with staff and members concerning CME inquiries.
  3. Major Activity: Support the Joint Sponsorship program and ensure compliance with ACCME and ASA requirements.
  4. Major Activity: Assist with communication from editors and question writers for Education Editorial Boards.
  5. Major Activity: Interface with staff in the Meetings/Exhibits Department to plan education and editorial meetings.
  6. Major Activity: Compile and send education offerings usage reports and evaluations to Committee Chairs and other interested parties.
  7. Major Activity: Organize and oversee Department of Education filing system: create, purge, and update files as needed.
  8. Minor Activity: Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in liberal arts, education or business management.
  • Minimum of 3 years association experience required preferably in a medical association.
  • Experience with ACCME requirements strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, database technologies required.
